"Dress the Child" Provides Clothing For Local Children

LAS CRUCES - At least 450 children are about to be provided with new clothes thanks to "Dress the Child."

"Dress the Child" takes place annually, and it is sponsored by the Rio Grande Rotary Foundation. According to a press release, "Dress the Child" has provided clothing to thousands of children in the 26 years it's been in existence.

Las Cruces Public Schools and Gadsden independent School District will nominate about 450 students to receive between $115 and $125 to be used during a clothing shopping spree. That shopping spree will take place on November 13, 2011.

Here are the dates, times and locations of the 2011 shopping events, during which students from Las Cruces Public Schools and Gadsden Independent School District will be joined by Grande Rotary Club members, New Mexico State University Aggie athletes and other community volunteers at three Las Cruces stores to shop for clothing:

• JC Penny, Mesilla Valley Mall, 700 S. Telshor Blvd.: 8:00 a.m., Sunday, November 13;

• Sears, Mesilla Valley Mall, 700 S. Telshor Blvd.: 6:30 p.m., Sunday, November 13;

• Kohl's Department Store, 2500 N. Triviz St.: 6:30 p.m., Sunday, December 4.
