DPS Urges Spring Breakers To Stay Away From Mexico

Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 6:46pm

We've heard it before here in the borderland but the Texas Department of Public Safety is urging Spring Breakers to avoid traveling to border cities in Mexico.

The reason for the warning is due to an increase in Mexican drug cartel related violence. The U.S. State Department web site lists several travel alerts related to the violence across the border. DPS says travelers should always check that site for current security issues in Mexico.

DPS also wants spring breakers to know that they'll be stepping up their efforts.
They'll be looking for drivers who are not wearing their seat belt, and of course those who drink and drive.
