LA UNION, N.M. — The Dona Ana Board of County Commissioners met in an emergency meeting Monday morning and passed a resolution declaring a disaster in the county after the recent rains.
The resolution will allow the county to possibly receive state funds to help make repairs in affected areas.
La Union was severely flooded last week and commissioners in the resolution said the local resources are not enough to make the necessary repairs.
Commissioner Dr. David Garcia, who represents the south valley, said repairs need to be made to utility lines that require road repairs before that work can be done.
Garcia said there has been no determination made on how much money the county will need.
