El Paso, TX (KTSM)- Hot to cold, sunny to cloudy and windy to dry... these are the typical conditions for the Borderland during the spring months.

If you are going to blame the quickly changing weather as the reason for you getting sick or calling in sick the rest of this week, listen to what one of the nurses at Centro San Vicente said.

" It is a common misconception that we often get colds when the temperature drops."

So much for using the weather as an excuse for missing work or school! The truth, according to Christina Paz F.N.P./C., people tend to stay indoors during a cold weather spell and staying indoors with other people who are sick will often lead to the spread of germs and sickness.

" Colds are easily passed to one another through direct contact."

The simple advice from Paz and her coworkers is to regularly wash your hands and cover your mouth/nose whenever you sneeze or cough and wash your hands regularly.
