(MSNBC) WASHINGTON — National media are reporting that a DNA match confirmed that Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was killed.

U.S. President Barack Obama made the initial announcement last night. Soon after celebrations erupted across the United States, including in front of the White House.

This morning thousands of people gathered at Ground Zero.

The U.S. had searched in vain for Bin Laden since he disappeared in Afghanistan in late 2001.

Details of the death were sparse. A senior U.S. counter terrorism official, who spoke with the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said bin Laden was killed in a ground operation in Pakistan, not by a Predator drone. The official said it happened last week.

We've since learned he was said to have been shot in the eye.

Officials say his body has already been buried at sea.

CNN and Reuters reported that the al-Qaida leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, having fulfilled the goal once voiced by Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, to bring to justice the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Have you ever taken a class in grammar? Your punctuation, spelling, and syntax are horrible. Skip the visits to church, and take an English class instead. I am sure El Paso Community College has some excellent classes in basic English grammar that would help bring you up to speed.

DNA is not evidence of death, it is evidence of Identity. You and I have DNA and we're both very much alive.
No one finds it strange that they buried him at sea less than 12 hours after his reported death?

They claim they didn't want to offend the islamic, the same people who have been hiding him for 10 years?

As it is right now, we have absolutely no evidence that he is dead. What evidence we had was buried at sea within 12 hours.

Nat666 I believe the title of the article was "DNA Match Officially Confirms the Death of Osama Bin Laden". Take time to read instead of jumping in to try and discredit President Obama. That's right President Obama the CIC who by the way campaigned on ending the Iraq War and increasing efforts in Afghanistan to hunt down Bin Laden. He gave the order to strike so he deserves the credit. He did it covertly; not popping off at the mouth with smart quips and alerting him that the US was coming.

He isn't taking credit. His participation was only the final order. He's given credit where it's due, to the military. Lets unite and put the political finger pointing aside. Our politicians have done it.

Osama bin Laden's death is justice fullfilled! The intelligence community must be congratulated for the death of a vicious killer who did not care for lives of men, women and children. This one death I applaud. God Bless America and those that carried out the mission!

This is NOT an accomplishment for Obama. He cannot take credit for Bin Laden's death. He was not out in the war zone. IF he is truely dead, it was the brave men and woman of the U.S. armed forces including all National Guardsmen who should be credited. Are they going to conduct DNA to assure it was Bin Laden?

By your same logic, since Obama cant take credit for his death because he was not in the war zone, then OSAMA cant be held reasonable for 9/11 because he was not in the plane. Come on give Obama his credit he order the strike and it was carried out, he is the Commander and chief so yes he gets the credit, same as Osama was in charge of Al Qaida.
