District Clerk Faces Lawsuits

El Paso - - He's already accused of public corruption. Now, El Paso County District Clerk Gilbert Sanchez is named in two lawsuits by former employees.

Here to tell us more is El Paso Times Assistant Managing Editor Armando Durazo.

What are the employees claiming?

One of them alleged sexual harassment and the other charged that she was wrongfully fired.

What does Gilbert Sanchez say?

He does not want to comment because the suits, which were filed in state district court. The suits were filed this month and there has been little or no action taken on them so far. He will be represented by the county attorney's office.

What are the allegations?

One suit alleges that Sanchez tried to kiss the plaintiff and sent her sexually oriented text messages. The other charges that she was fired after she made allegations with a local judge that there were some illegal activities in the clerk's office.
