On Monday morning, El Paso County Commissioners Court will discuss the proposed natural gas power plant in far east El Paso.

Though additional power sources are needed in that fast-growing section of the city, some residents in Montana Vista and nearby neighborhoods have expressed their fear that a power plant would hurt their property values, and even their health.

El Paso Electric would build the plant.

To me El Paso Electric is one big arrogant monopoly whose customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. I know that El Paso's energy needs are growing and that both the city and the Electric company need to plan for that. It just bugs me that EP Electric really does not pay much attention to the concerns of residents who live in the area where they are proposing to build their new power plant. EP Electric is acting like a bully who thinks the plant and site are a done deal.
