Learn how to make a memory box with local renowned artist Maria Natividad.

The El Paso museum of History at 510 North Santa Fe Street will present a very special program for Dia de los Muertos. On Thursday evening, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. local renowned artist Maria Natividad will conduct a family workshop on how to make a Dia de los Muertos Memory Box.

All ages are welcome and the workshop is totally free. Class size is limited, so register early.

According to the El Paso Museum of History, the celebration of the Day of the Dead is one of love, honor and memory. In this workshop you will have the opportunity to make a memory box for a deceased loved one. All materials will be provided, including the boxes which are about the size of a shoe box. All participants have to do is bring a picture of the person they wish to honor and anything else that is descriptive of that person.

As a native of El Paso, Maria grew up with the rich culture and heritage of her Hispanic background. As a visual artist, she puts emotion into her artwork that draws the viewer in. A teacher for 20 years with the Ysleta School District, her association with children has always been a close and sensitive one. Maria especially loves to have people create special alters for Dia de los Muertos.
