EPCSO: Driver identified as 24-year-old Marisol Flores

A train strikes a car at a railroad crossing in Fabens, sending one woman to the hospital.

El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies say the wreck happened about 6:30 a.m. Thursday on Fabens Rd. and Austin St. in Fabens. Witnesses tell us Border Patrol agents were the first on the scene and tried to help pull the woman out of her car.

According to EPCSO officials the driver, identified as 24-year-old Marisol Flores, was traveling south on N. Fabens Rd and was going to cross the railroad tracks when her vehicle, a maroon 2007 Chevrolet Malibu,  was struck by a Union Pacific train that was traveling westbound. The Chevy  then struck and knocked over a rail road crossing signal light.

Flores, who had to be extracted from the vehicle, was transported to Del Sol Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Deputies say the railroad crossing arms were functioning at the time of the accident.

I was there recording from a distance , then the sheriff deptuty (heavy set) with sunglasses screamed at everybody to leave this isn't a show. Someone needs to make him aware that we have a right to record especially on public property. When the official news showed up and the spokesman for the sheriff dept was there , the deputy that was screaming at everyone to leave was suddenly being professional.
