A downtown building owner and developer Billy Abraham contacted NC9 Thursday with what he calls a deal in the works.

It's a possible parking garage that would take the place of the mostly empty American Furniture building. It's near the proposed baseball stadium, and bottom floor tenants would stay in the building. The garage would start from the second floor.

"A walk through the district things just jumped out that make a lot of sense," Billy Abraham said. "They're contemplating relocating City Hall at the Plaza Hotel."

Abraham stresses that nothing is carved in stone. Mayor Cook spoke earlier Thursday and said he hadn't heard anything about a garage plan. But a garage there could be an answer to parking problems near the proposed new ballpark.

At the present time, the City Manager is putting together a committee to look at various locations to possibly use for City Hall relocations purposes for interim and permanent use. However, the City has NOT made any commitments to anyone at this time.

Why are millionaires being allowed to make more millions off of the backs of El Paso taxpayers?

They make millions while taxpayers "get" to pay to tear down and rebuild city hall.

Let them build their business with THEIR money.

I'm disgusted that city council allowed themselves to be bought and paid for.
