San Elizario, TX (KTSM) — Gabriel Hernandez, 22, is accused of allegedly assaulting his mother with a broomstick at a home in San Elizario.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a family fight at a home in the 300 block of El Caracol at 6:10 p.m. Friday.

Deputies said Hernandez ran away from the scene before they arrived, but his mother reportedly followed him in a car. Hernandez was reportedly running alongside the car his mother was driving and when she stopped, he collided into the side of the car.

Deputies caught up with Hernandez at the intersection of Sacred Wall and Quetzal and took him into custody. He was charged with aggravated assault and family violence.

Hernandez complained of pain in one of his legs and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
