Defense rests in El Paso cold case murder trial
Closing arguments in Roger Garrett trial expected Monday
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Friday afternoon the defense rested in the Roger Garrett cold case murder trial. Roger Garrett, along with is mother Lisbeth Garrett, are accused of killing his stepfather, Major Chester Garrett in 1977.
Two witnesses were called to testify Friday morning; a former girlfriend of Chester Garrett, and a former investigator on the case.
In previous testimony, Roger Garrett's ex-wife, and half-brother, Patrick Garrett, both said that Roger confessed to them on separate occasions that Roger hit his stepfather over the head with a baseball bat abd then Lisbeth stabbed him several times.
Closing arguments in the trial are expected Monday.
