Voters in the Lone Star State cast their ballots in the primary election.
It's predicted to be a close race between Congressman Silvestre Reyes and Beto O'Rouke. NC9 was at both candidates' campaign parties as a part of our Decision 2012 Team Coverage.
The big question Tuesday: Will reyes hold onto the position he has held for over a decade?

Despite predictions of a close race Congressman Silvestre Reyes says he believes he will come out on top.

"I think my track record is solid," he said. "I think people appreciate the work that i've done. The things that have made a difference in El Paso from 15 years ago to today."

His challenger Beto O'Rouke has said in his campaign Reyes is out of date with the issues that affect younger voters in El Paso. Reyes, on the other hand, thinks the youth vote is on his side.

"We've had a very strong showing of young people," he contended. '"You know the young people aren't any different than anybody else. They want to vote for someone that they think is going to represent them."

Reyes spent the day talking with voters... attempting to get any last minute support.

"We've been out here visiting precincts," Reyes said. "Almost 30 precincts now. It's still 2:30 in the afternoon, we are hoping we will see the traditional surge after work."

One of the most controversial issues in the congressional race is the candidates' stance on marijuana. Beto O'Rouke says he wants to explore the possibilty of making the drug legal.

Reyes says the war on drugs is a battle worth fighting, and if O'Rouke heads to the nation's capital pushing legislation to legalize the drug, it would mean big trouble for the border region.

"It would make us probably the laughing stock of the border," he said.

We will be here all night, and have reaction from Reyes on Tuesday's results at 10 p.m.
