Deadly Hit and Run Victim is Identified

EL PASO— El Paso's latest traffic fatality victim has been identified by the El Paso Police Department and the search continues for the person responsible in the accident.
Jorge Campa, 46, of Durango, Mexico, was killed on March 24. Campa was found in the median between east and west bound lanes of the 2100 block of E. Paisano by an EMS ambulance that was driving in the area.
EPPD's Special Traffic Investigation's unit determined that a vehicle traveling west on Paisano hit Campa and then fled the area. The vehicle involved in the hit and run is described as being a 2002-06 Chevrolet Avalanche, white, with extensive damage to the left front and a broken fog light cover.

This is the 18th traffic fatality of 2011 compared to 13 last year, and is the 6th pedestrian fatality of 2011 compared to 5 at this time last year.
