Police have identified the man killed in Tuesday night's crash in east El Paso.  He is 21-year-old Tyon Smith.

The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. on Founders Blvd. and Leigh Fisher Blvd. near Airport Road.  According to Darrel Petry of the El Paso Police Department, Smith was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram when he lost control and the truck flipped onto its side.

"When officers arrived, what they found was a white Dodge pickup. The truck had been west on Founders. The road actually kind of curves southwesterly. The vehicle continued west, drove over a raised curb and ended up in the desert. Now as a result of that, the male operator of the vehicle was ejected" said Petry.

Smith was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Special Traffic Investigators said speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.  They also said Smith was not wearing a seatbelt.

There were no passengers in Smith's truck.  No other cars were involved.
