El Pasoans in need of general surgery will now have access to less invasive, less painful surgeries with rapid recovery time.

Sierra Medical Center has acquired the DaVinci single-site technology.

This new system enables surgeons to operate on the patient with the end result of virtually scarless surgery, minimal pain, low blood loss, fast recory and a shorter doctor stay.

The DaVinci robot is perfect for gallbladder removal.

"This machine helps because of the visualization that's possible with a robotic scope and camera" said Dr. Paul Arellano, a general surgeon at Sierra Medical Center.

During the procedure, the surgeon is able to view a 3D, high-definition image of the patient's anatomy. The surgeon uses controls below the viewer to move the instrument arms and camera.

"To be one of the first hospitals to offer this technically advanced surgery demostrates Sierra Medical Center's leadership in providing patients with the most up-to-date minimally invasive surgical options" said Dr. Arrellano.
