Cyber Monday sales expected to break online shopping record
El Paso, TX — Gray Thursday and Black Friday might be over, but retailers are expected to pull out all the stops to give shoppers the best deals on Cyber Monday. This year, it's expected to smash all kinds of online shopping records.
Cyber sales last year hit $1.5 billion, making it the top online spending day of the year. This year experts said this year sales could reach closer to $2 billion.
The majority of the 130 million people who will shop online today said they would do so first thing in the morning.
The National Retail Federation recommends checking promotions at www.cybermonday.com, which highlights deals from more than 800 online retailers. It also recommends, if you're not familiar with an online retailer, use a website like bizrate.com and click on the store ratings to find out what other people's shopping experiences have been like.
The next major shopping day is December 18, annual free shipping day. It's the last day items ordered online can be shipped with delivery guaranteed by Christmas.
