Holiday vacation becomes cruise nightmare for passengers...
What started as a dream vacation ended as a nightmare weekend for passengers aboard the Norwegian Dawn.
Officials said the ship temporarily lost power Friday night off the coast of Puerto Rico.
"We slept on our chairs on our balcony because we couldn't sleep inside," passenger Scott Greenspan said.
"The condition was horrible," passenger Ramona Coronado said.
Some passengers passed out from the heat.
"She passed out and this lady, she smacked her head," passenger Jeremy Ide said. "They had no plan of action in regards to crisis management. None."
Ide shot home video of the conditions on the ship.
The Coast Guard deemed the ship otherwise OK, so passengers had no choice but to stay aboard.
"Absolutely, I'm upset. I wouldn't be here talking about it if I wasn't upset and what I'm upset about is this is how they dealt with it. They treated people almost inhumane, and neglected them and then tried to cover it up," Ide said.
Officials with Norwegian Cruise Line said passengers will receive a 75-percent refund and a credit of 50 percent on a future cruise before Dec. 31, 2010.
