Wanted sexual predator from Austin apprehended in Tornillo

A registered sex offender with active warrants from Austin, TX was nabbed by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Tornillo on Tuesday after a call from a concerned citizen.

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Clint Border Patrol station received a call from a concerned citizen in Tornillo after they became suspicious of a man needing a change of clothing. The caller also suspected that the man was trying to hide from someone.

The Clint station dispatched an agent to the area where they found 54-year-old Anthony Flores allegedly running from a local business. Flores then attempted to escape on foot, and proceeded to become uncooperative and aggressive towards the Border Patrol agent.

Flores was subsequently discovered to have an active warrant out of Austin, TX. Flores is listed as a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history of more than a dozen criminal convictions, including possession of marijuana, assault on a peace officer, and multiple charges of indecency with a child. Flores was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting extradition.
