The driver, a 30-year-old black male with a Texas license was attempting to secure his weapon at the Border Patrol checkpoint when the gun fired, striking him through the right hand and his passenger, a 28-year-old Hispanic female with Arizona license through the left thigh.
The driver of the vehicle did have a concealed handgun permit and Hudspeth County Sheriffs Deputies say that they will continue to investigate, but they believe the circumstances to be accidental.
