Two Dona Ana County women have been placed under arrest and charged with child abuse after allegedly leaving their two children alone between 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28th.

Investigators learned that Mayra Golden, 22, and Manuela Rodriguez, 29, left their two children ages 12 and 4 home alone between 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The pair of women told investigators they left the home to shower at a neighbors home.

When they returned to their home, nearly four hours later, they discovered that their home which was located in the 6000 block of Aerosmith, had been broken into and items in the home had been scattered. The two children were also missing from the home.

Dona Ana County Sheriff's investigators later found out that the children were with another woman who had allegedly gone to the home with her 22-year-old daughter Danielle Paez. Paez reportedly had gone to the home to collect a debt that she claimed was owed to her by Golden.

When Paez' mother found out that the two children were left at home by themselves, she told investigators that she took them to her house because she 'did not want them to be left alone.'

Golden and Rodriguez were both arrested and charged with two counts of child abuse. They were booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Facility on a $10,000 secured bond.

DASCO says that an arrest warrant will also be sought against Paez for breaking and entering.

At this time, the two children have been placed in the care of family members.
