New Mexico State Police are warning citizens of a scam involving someone calling people in the state of New Mexico threatening arrest if they do not give the caller money in order to settle a lawsuit.

NMSP says that the person calls, stating that they are with the NMSP and giving the name of Officer Barry Miller, Nick Miller or Derrick Miller. People being called are asked to contact an attorney by the name of Jack Conway in regards to a lawsuit.

The caller is advising that if they do not call Jack Conway within 13 minutes an officer from State Police will going to their residence to arrest them.

The amount the caller is demanding is $799.00.

This is a scam, do not send anyone money and do not give out credit card information.

New Mexico State Police Officers will never ask for money from anyone and are not allowed to accept money.
