Routine traffic stop leads to meth bust

El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A northeast man was arrested on Saturday afternoon following a routine traffic stop that lead to the discovery of methamphetamine.
Charlie Hardy, 46, of the 5000 block of Alps, was stopped by an officer from El Paso's Northeast Regional Command Center driving his vehicle near his home on Saturday afternoon for an expired Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI) sticker.
During the traffic stop, the officers discovered that Hardy was in possession of several pieces of rock like crystal, later revealed to be methamphetamine.
The Meth was located inside the vehicle, under the dash mat, having a total weight of .6 grams. Hardy was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) less than 1 gram.
He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
