Reward grows to $6,000 in Las Cruces hotel robbery, shooting

The reward for information about an armed robbery of the Econo Lodge in Las Cruces has grown to $6,000. Las Cruces Crime Stoppers along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have combined rewards in order to locate the two men who entered the Econo Lodge at 2585 S. Valley Dr. and shot the hotel clerk.

LC Crime Stoppers say the two men entered the Econo Lodge around 1:30 a.m. Saturday February 1st and jumped over the front desk counter at the hotel and pointed a gun at the 24-year-old clerk. The two men then took the clerk into a back office and shot him in the leg and left with an undisclosed amount of cash from the hotel. They were last seen running toward the west side of the nearby Motel 6 n La Posada Lane.

The hotel clerk was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Both suspects are believed to be Hispanic and in their 20's. The gunman is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall with a heavy build wearing a white shirt, dark gray zipper-front hoodie and blue jeans entered the Econo Lodge with a second suspect, described as 5 feet 9 inches with an average build wearing a light gray zipper-front hoodie, dark pants and a mask that partially covered his face.
