A routine traffic stop led police to the arrest of a man they say had one pound of marijuana stashed away in his car Monday night.

Miguel Angel Valdez, 27, was driving a grey 2002 Buick Century south on Resler through the intersection of N. Mesa around 10:42 p.m. Monday night when El Paso Police spotted him driving without headlights on. Police pulled Valdez over for the traffic violation and allegedly noticed a bag of marijuana in the center console of the Buick.

Upon further investigation, police K-9 units discovered that Valdez had more marijuana under the front dash of the Buick and a bread bag that also contained marijuana in a backpack in the back seat.

The total weight of the marijuana allegedly found in Valdez' car was one pound. Valdez was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Jail on Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces and under 5 pounds. His bond was set at $3,000.
