Missing Texas woman found dead in eastern New Mexico

The body of a woman found along the Pecos River in Eddy County, NM on Friday has been positively identified as a 24-year-old missing woman from Seminole, TX.

According to affiliate KOB in Albuquerque, a hunter discovered the body bound and nude near the river on Friday morning. The woman was identified Monday as 24-year-old Anna L. Villegas of Seminole, Texas.

Villegas had been reported missing by her family six days earlier, on November 21st according to the Eddy County Sheriff's Office. Seminole, TX is approximately 100 miles away from where Villegas' body was located.

The New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner determined that the Villegas' cause of death was asphyxiation. Additional forensic tests are still being run.
