El Paso Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man they say assaulted a woman. The man is identified as Gilbert Portillo, 22, of El Paso.

In September of 2013, EPSO Deputies were called to University Medical Center regarding a violent assault that had just occurred. The victim identified Portillo as the assailant in the assault.

During the alteration, Portillo reached into the victim's shirt to take her cellular phone. In an attempt to retrieve the lost phone, the victim followed Portillo to the parking garage, where Portillo accelerated the car towards the victim, striking her in the leg and violently throwing her to the ground as a result of the impact.

Portillo left the scene prior to the arrival of deputies. Charges were filed and police are actively seeking information that leads to Portillo's arrest. He is wanted on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and robbery charges.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gilbert Portillo can contact Crime Stoppers at (915) 566-8477. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward if the information provided leads to the apprehension of the suspect.
