Las Cruces Police were able to nab a burglar in the act early Tuesday morning thanks to an alert neighbor.

LCPD responded to a home in the 2600 block of Calle de Salud after a neighbor called police to report a man acting suspiciously and enter the backyard of a neighbor's home.

When LCPD arrived on the scene, they verified that someone was in fact inside the home and that the person inside was not the homeowner, they surrounded the home and made several attempts to contact the person inside.

After LCPD officers announced that a K-9 unit would be unleashed inside the home, the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Dondre Shaquill Robinson came out of the home and surrendered to police.

The homeowner confirmed that her residence had been ransacked and that several wallets appeared to have been rummaged.

Robinson was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
