A woman suspected of threatening to run over her girlfriend was arrested Sunday by Las Cruces Police.

Vanessa Flores, 44, of the 1300 block of Magoffin Place, is charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance at Flores’ home.

Detectives learned that, earlier Sunday, Flores and her 41-year-old girlfriend were at a friend’s home drinking beer. Shortly after returning to Flores’ home, an argument between the two women turned physical, and the 41-year-old left the residence and began walking down the street.

Detectives believe that’s when Flores got behind the wheel of her Kia Sephia and drove it directly toward her girlfriend, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. A witness told police that Flores then turned the car around and again drove directly at the 41-year-old woman.

The victim again avoided being struck by the car.

Flores then drove back to her home but left before police arrived on scene. Flores was located a short time later and was subsequently booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. She has since posted bond.

This woman and her girlfriends are friends with the other lady that killed her boyfriend by running him over. In fact the girlfriend was on news footage at the funeral for Carlos Nevarez. Las Cruces has set a precedent that it is ok to be drunk and run over your spouse. She will walk free just like Fuschini did.
