Las Cruces man accused of running over ex-girlfriend
Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police arrested and charged 31-year-old Harry Donald Huband with one count of aggravated battery and a fourth-degree felony count of false imprisonment for allegedly running over his ex-girlfriend with his pickup truck late Sunday evening.
Huband was previously arrested on November 22, 2013 for allegedly kidnapping and beating the same woman with a tennis racket.
Las Cruces Police allege that Huband was with the ex-girlfriend at a friend's home when they began arguing. The pair left the friend's home in Huband's Dodge Dakota truck and continued to argue.
The woman claims she attempted to get out of Huband's truck several times, but each time he grabbed her hair and refused to let her out of the truck. When Huband came to a stop on Mesa St, he tried again to prevent her from getting out of his truck, but she fell to the ground.
This is when police allege that he accelerated and drove the truck over his ex-girlfriend in the road.
The woman was able to get up from the street and attempted to run to a nearby home when Huband dragged her back to his truck and drove her to his home at 5440 Central Rd.
Huband's current girlfriend, who was at the home on Central Rd. when the pair arrived, drove the 33-year-old victim to a nearby store and waited for emergency crews to arrive. The woman was then airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso with non-life threatening injuries.
Huband has been booked into the Dona Ana County Detention center with a cash-only bond set at $25,000.
