Las Cruces Police have arrested a 39-year-old homeless man suspected of attacking two people on Valentine's Day.

LCPD responded to a ditch bank near Compress Road and Amador Avenue just before 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14 where a 45-year-old man and 35-year-old woman said they had been looking for a friend in the area when they came across 39-year-old Carlos J. Fisher

The couple asked Fisher if he had seen their friend, which allegedly angered Fisher. The woman claims that Fisher attacked her with a machete on the back of her neck as she was walking away, and then turned to the man and struck him, cutting his hand.

The two victims were not serious injured and were able to run away from the ditch bank to seek help.

LCPD officers were able to locate Fisher at his campsite and found his machete, which was located nearby.

Fisher was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a $25,000 bond.
