Fugitive featured on Manhunt Monday surrenders to EPSO officials

El Paso Sheriff's Officials say that 22-year-old Gilbert Portillo, who was featured on Manhunt Monday on October 14, 2013, has surrendered to Sheriff's Officials.

Portillo, who was wanted for allegedly assaulting a female acquaintance in the parking garage at  University Medical Center in September turned himself in to Sheriff's Officials the evening he was featured featured on Manhunt Monday. Portillo claims he was aware of the pending criminal warrants and says he was out of town seeking medical attention for a family member.

Portillo was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention facility for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Robbery. Emergency protective orders were also executed on behalf of the victim at the time of Portillo's surrender. Portillo bonded out of the detention facility on October 15, 2014.
