El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating after someone found a dead fetus in an east El Paso park on Thursday around 8:55 p.m.
EPPD spokesman Mike Baranyay confirmed the discovery happened at Travis White Park, located just off of Wedgewood, across from Eastwood Knolls Elementary School. EPPD's Crime's Against Persons Unit is investigating the discovery as an unattended death.
El Pasoan, Cesar Israel posted on his Facebook page claiming he was out walking his dog Thursday night, when the pitbull found the dead fetus under the playground canopy.
He said on Facebook, "My pitbull was late but found a dead baby. How can people do this? Leave a baby to death!".

NewsChannel 9 spoke with parents at Travis White Park on Friday and many said they had no idea a fetus was found near the same playground where their children played.
"I think I'll probably pack up the bags and have to think twice before I come back. It's certainly concerning," said Joey Ritchie.
"That's insane. But it's what happens nowadays, so many people, so many things are bound to happen. But that's absolutely insane. I wish that person would have come forward to the authorities," said Mike Lara.
"I think it's just terrible, disturbing news and I can't believe that in this area, something like that would happen," said Jessica Ritchie.
The El Paso Medical Examiner's Office hasn't yet told us how far along the fetus was when it was found.
