EPPD: Man charged in serious Lower Valley hit and run crash
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso Police have charged 29-year-old Juan Jose Molina with two counts of Intoxication Assault, two counts Accident Involving Personal Injury and seven outstanding municipal warrants following a violent two-car crash in El Paso's Lower Valley early Saturday morning.
The crash happened at approximately 2:25 a.m. Saturday, December 21st at the intersection of Hunter and North Loop in El Paso's Lower Valley. Police say that a 2000 Isuzu NPR utility truck driven by Molina was traveling west on North Loop and ran a red light at the intersection of Hunter. Molina hit a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 43-year-old Pilar Garcia.
Garcia suffered serious internal injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Garcia's passenger, 17-year-old Alexander Galarza was also injured and required hospitalization.
After the crash, police allege that Molina fled from the scene on foot. Police officers were able to locate Molina hiding behind a home nearby with the assistance of a Police K9.
Molina was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. After he was released Saturday evening, El Paso Police booked Molina into the El Paso County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $40,000.
