EPPD: Gang unit investigating overnight 'shots fired' call

The El Paso Police Department's Gang Unit is investigating a shots fired call that occurred early Thursday evening in east El Paso.

EPPD was dispatched to the Valley Ridge Apartments located at 1650 George Dieter to a shots fired call. When police arrived, they met with three 21-year-old men who said they were walking along George Dieter when a dark sedan drove by and the occupant started a verbal fight with the three men.

During the verbal argument, the suspect allegedly fired two shots at the victims and fled the scene. None of the three men were struck by the bullets.

EPPD later recovered a gun in the street nearby at Jim Ferriel and Brian Ray. Police believe the recovered handgun was the one used in the shots fired call.

Gang investigators are asking anyone with information on the identity of the suspects who may have fired the gun at the three men to contact the police department at (915) 832-4400 or to remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward contact Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566 -8477.
