City urging public to pay warrants before publication date
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The City of El Paso says that there are approximately 100,000 people with active warrants with the Municipal Court. Many of those people have multiple warrants.
The City is now warning citizens to take care of outstanding warrants or risk having their names published in the El Paso Times and El Diario Newspapers. If you are one of the 100,000 people who would like to avoid having your name published in local publications, you must pay your warrants in full by Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
The public is encouraged to check to see if they have any outstanding warrants on the city's website: http://www.elpasotexas.gov/muni_clerk/warrant_search.asp
You will have the option of paying warrants online or in person at one of the City's Bond Office Locations throughout El Paso. For locations and hours, please visit: http://www.elpasotexas.gov/muni_clerk/hours.asp.
The main office downtown is open Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is located at 810 E. Overland.
Officials would like to stress that this is not an amnesty period, but only a warning to those with outstanding warrants to pay those outstanding warrants before names are published on Sunday, February 23.
