El Paso man arrested for obscene Facebook postings
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Detectives with the El Paso Sheriff's Department arrested an El Paso man after they received several alarming complaints over a sexually descriptive Facebook posting that involved underage girls.
The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Special Victims Section and Crimes Against Person section along with the El Paso Police were able to identify Miguel Yanez, who lives in the 400 block of Shutz in El Paso.
NewsChannel 9 was able to view the harassing Facebook messages, which are too graphic to be re-posted on our website. In the Facebook message, Yanez references sexual acts with an 11-year-old girl in the Fabens area.
Thursday afternoon, Sheriff's Officers arrested Yanez on charges of harassment. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond.
At this point in the investigation, deputies have no evidence to support that anyone has actually been victimized by Yanez, even though Yanez stated so in the Facebook comment. The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to contact the El Paso County Sheriffs' Office at (915) 546-2280.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to inform everyone that it is unlawful to initiate any communication by telephone, in writing, or by electronic communication any comments, requests, suggestions, or proposal that is obscene with the intent to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment, or embarrass another.
