Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) — A 23-year-old Las Cruces man is behind bars today after being accused of allowing a 14-year-old to 'car surf' while he allegedly did 'donuts' by the river levee while intoxicated.
A Dona Ana County Deputy was on patrol in the area near the river levee near Shalem Colony Trail when he allegedly spotted a car, driven by Dominic Estrada, 23. The deputy saw the car doing 'donuts' while someone was on top of the car.
When the Deputy approached Estrada, he determined that the person on top of the car was a 14-year-old child. DASCO deputies also allege that Estrada was drunk at the time.
Estrada was arrested and charged with a felony of negligent child abuse, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.
