CPB officers apprehend man wanted for 15 years on sexual abuse of a minor charge
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The U.S. Customs and Border Protections Field Operations Officers were able to apprehend a man who eluded arrest for 15 years on a sexual abuse of a minor charge on Friday morning.
CBP Officers stopped 56-year-old Petronio Rivera Rodriguez as he was entering the United States from Mexico at the Columbus port of entry at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning. CBP officers did a query on Rodriguez' Legal permanent Resident card as part of their routine inspection and received a notification that he was wanted in Phoenix on a sexual abuse of a minor charge.
The warrant had originally been issued in Arizona in October of 1999. Rodriguez was taken into custody and turned over to Luna County Sheriff's officers.
In addition to Rodriguez' arrest, CBP officers also apprehended a dozen other wanted people at El Paso area ports over the weekend.
