Police arrested a Dona Ana County woman suspected of burglarizing at least two homes and selling stolen property on a popular social networking site.

Rubina “Bina” Altamirano, 20, of the 800 block of Sunbonnet Lane, is charged with two counts of residential burglary, and two counts of receiving or disposing of stolen property.

Detectives learned that property stolen from two homes, one on Ethel Avenue and the other on Foothills Road, was advertised and being sold on a Facebook group by someone with the username “Bina Mija.”

A resident who purchased an Apple computer from “Bina Mija” and another woman became suspicious of the transaction after he learned that the iMac computer had photos and contact information to someone else.

The buyer contacted the owner of the computer who confirmed that the iMac had been stolen.

Detectives confirmed that “Bina Mija” was actually Rubina Altamirano and positively identified her as the person who sold the stolen computer.

Detectives also learned that Altamirano allegedly committed the burglaries and sold the stolen property with the assistance of a friend, another woman. Charges against the other woman are pending.

Altamirano was arrested Saturday, March 29, and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $15,000.
