Alleged sex offender from El Paso's most wanted list captured in Florida
Jacksonville, FL (KTSM) — Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) in Jacksonville, FL arrested a man on El Paso's Most Wanted list on Wednesday. Edwin Tyrone Flagg, 60, of El Paso was sought for his alleged involvement in the sexual assault of a child.
In April, 2013, the El Paso Police Department began an investigation into allegations that Flagg sexually assaulted a young child. In May, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued for Flagg. When Flagg became aware of the arrest warrant he fled the El Paso area.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force began tracking Flagg as he traveled from Texas to Florida, possibly living at homeless shelters along the way. Members of the task force eventually determined that Flagg was hiding out in Jacksonville, FL. Several Florida law enforcement agencies, including the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Veterans Administration Police conducted surveillance on several locations Flagg was believed to have ties to. Law enforcement was eventually able to locate Flagg and arrest him without incident.
Flagg will remain in Duval County, Florida jail pending extradition to El Paso. He is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
