Alleged DWI driver crashes into two EPPD units, another vehicle
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A El Paso man has been charged with DWI after crashing into two marked El Paso Police units on I-10 overnight.
EPPD allege that 41-year-old Alfred Carrillo was driving while intoxicated when he crashed into a marked EPPD unit that was investigating a crash on I-10 west near Airway. Carrillo then allegedly continued driving and struck a second marked police unit before hitting another car that was off the road in the emergency lane.
Carrillo was treated for minor injuries and was found to be intoxicated. The investigation into Carrillo's criminal record revealed that he was previously convicted for DWI 3rd or more in March of 2013. He was sentenced to 5 years probation for that offense.
Carrillo was booked into the El Paso County Jail for DWI 3rd or more on a $5,000 bond. The EPPD units were unoccupied at the time of the crash and no major injuries were reported.
