Alleged DWI driver crashes into Border Patrol van
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A El Paso man found himself behind bars after he rear-ended a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle in the 6800 block of Montana early Wednesday morning.
El Paso Police say that 21-year-old Roberto Carlos Perez was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica when he rear-ended a Border Patrol van carrying five U.S. Border Patrol Agents on Montana near Airway at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday morning.
After the crash, Perez allegedly fled the scene of the crash in his Corsica to a business located at the corner of Montana and Robert E. Lee, which is where police eventually caught up to him.
EPPD Officers met with Perez and determined that he was intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Jail for DWI with a Blood Alcohol Level of more than .15. Perez' bond was set at $1,000.
EPPD Spokesman Darrel Petry says that none of the Border Patrol Agents required medical transport from the scene of the crash.
