EL PASO - Police report that crime is down 1% compared to last year; Pebble Hills Regional Command is the only command center where crime is on the rise.

The crime category with the largest decrease is murders. Right now in El Paso this year, there have been five murders, whereas last year at this time there were 12.

Car burglaries are down 24%, thefts inside cars are down 15%, thefts are down 5%, and burglaries are down 2%. However, robberies and assaults are both on the rise, by 10% and 7% respectfully.

The command center that's seen the largest drop in crime is the central area command, down by 5%. Pebble Hills crime is up by 2% and the mission valley command is up by 1%.
