Company crews douse fire, EPFD called to assist
El Paso, Tx — A fire at Western Refining on Wednesday morning caused a brief shutdown of Trowbridge Drive as crews fought the blaze.
According to the El Paso Fire Department, Western Refining's fire crews were dispatched to a fire on their property shortly after 8:30 a.m. EPFD crews were called to the scene as back up to the company's crews.
A Western Refining official tells NewsChannel 9 that the fire was reported at a refinery structure on the south side of the property. EPFD described the area as a boiler connected to crude oil and other structures. Western Refining fire crews quickly brought the fire under control and were able to isolate the valves controlling the flow of the crude oil shutting off the flow.
According to EPFD officials, the fire was put out by 9:14 a.m. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
A spokesperson for Western Refining says the cause of the fire is under investigation, however, their crews must wait until the structure cools before they can investigate the incident further.
