Crew Forced to Shuttle Water to Contain Chaparral Fire
CHAPARRAL, NM — The Doña Ana County Fire Marshal’s office says they have yet to determine the cause of a fire that gutted a 900 square-foot garage in Chaparral.
Fire crews from Chaparral, Anthony, Chamberino, La Union and La Mesa responded to the fire, which was reported just before 7 p.m. in the 500 block of Hermosa.
According to Captain Kellen Tarkington with Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services, units from Otero County and El Paso County also assisted in getting the fire under control. Several tanker trucks were also needed to shuttle water to the fire.
No injuries were reported during the fire, which completely destroyed the auto body repair business and several cars inside.
Fire investigators spent most of Thursday at the scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
