EL PASO - The weekend is off to a deadly start on our roads. A tragic car accident in East El Paso killed two women and sent another to the hospital.

Police say a driver lost control of the car on Spur 601 and Loop 375 South just before 3am Saturday. They say the car went on to a median, struck a traffic light pole and caught fire.

The 26-year-old driver and 28-year-old passenger died at the scene. A person in the back seat was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, but there's no word on their injuries.

Investigators say speed was a factor in the accident.
