Workers Asked to Donate Wages
El Paso - A budget crisis may require more sacrifice from El Paso County employees.
They are being asked to donate their wages for county paid holidays through a payroll deduction.
As NewsChannel 9 has reported, county leaders have already asked county employees to take three unpaid holidays each year.
County Commissioners say their latest proposal is necessary for elected leaders and employees who are not subject to the holiday furloughs to voluntarily participate in them if they choose.
Human Resources will provide forms to those who wish to participate.
The county says the economic impact of such a proposal depends on the amount of donations received.
County Commissioners will debate the voluntary payroll reduction proposal on Monday.
NewsChannel 9 will continue to follow the story and let you know what happens.
