EL PASO - The president of El Paso Community College said goodbye to El Paso in style today.
Doctor Richard Rhodes was awarded at today's county commissioner's meeting.
County leaders commended him for his community involvement, and for increasing enrollment at EPCC.
Rhodes joined EPCC 10-years ago. He's headed to the capital to be president of Austin Community College, but Rhodes says he is leaving EPCC in good hands.
"We have an impressive team so I'm just one person but the team is what makes the difference," Rhodes said. "It's the strong partnerships, the relationships."
Rhodes starts his new job September 1st in Austin. At that time, doctor Ernie Roberts will take over as the interim president of EPCC.

I just wish the collage would address the issue of language! When you go to the campuses you hear more Spanish then English? I thought we were their to learn what our country language (English)is, We are doing a disservice to our young students, as they will never learn our language properly! I am a HISPANIC and was raised in south Texas and know what they will face! If you do not present yourself in a positive manner, and speak clearly without mistakes! you will be ignored!
