Council to vote on new city manager, salary details released
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — It appears El Paso is now just one step away from hiring a new city manager.
On Tuesday city council will vote to hire Tommy Gonzalez, the former city manager of Irving, Texas.
Gonzalez would receive a base salary of about $239,000 a year, essentially the same salary currently paid to City Manager Joyce Wilson.
The proposed five year contract also offers Gonzalez $15,000 a year in deferred compensation and a $500 car allowance.
Council will also vote Tuesday to name Deputy City Manager Sean Mcglynn the interim city manager, which means Joyce Wilson's last day on the job could be next week.
If approved Gonzalez would start June 23rd.
